Utley Homers Twice, Phillies Top Orioles

The Phillies power bats were on full display in this afternoons contest as they went deep five times.  The Phillies topped the Orioles by a score of 13-4 with the help of a solid outing from the heart of their lineup.

Jimmy Rollins went 2 for 4 on the day, hitting second in the lineup.  Rollins also scored 2 runs on the day, and has looked great since returning from the World Baseball Classic.  The veteran shortstop is now hitting .316 on the spring.  Rollins' replacement, Yuniesky Betancourt hit the Phillies fifth home run of the day, a three-run blast in the seventh inning.
Chase Utley put on a show at the plate today and may be finally coming around.  Utley went 2 for 4 on the day with 2 two-run home runs, to increase his spring average to .255.  Utley got a slow start at the plate this spring but slowly and steadily has been coming around, and today's power display is a very good sign.
Ryan Howard followed up Utley's first inning home run with a home run of his own.  The Big Piece went 1 for 2 on the day with a walk and collected his sixth home run of the spring.  Looking for a bounce back season in 2013, Howard has been on a tear through Spring Training, with a .333 batting average.
Dom Brown continued his torrid spring with a 2 for 4 showing at the plate. Brown cranked his seventh home run of the spring and collected 4 RBI's on the day. The outfielder has hit .389 through Grapefruit League play so far.
The Phillies pitchers strung together a solid outing, with Aaron Cook getting the start and going 4 2/3 innings while allowing 2 runs.  Cook was replaced by Phillippe Aumont, who threw 1 1/3 inning while surrendering a single run.
Left-hander Antonio Bastardo turned in one perfect inning if work.  Mike Adams replaced Bastardo on the mound, going 1 inning while surrendering 1 run, his first allowed all spring.  The game was finished off by J.C. Ramirez, who threw a single scoreless inning while allowing 3 hits.
The Phillies will return to action tomorrow at Bright House Field against the Boston Red Sox.
