Flyers Fall to Nash & Rangers

The Flyers fell to the New York Rangers tonight at Madison Square Garden by a score of 4-2.  The Flyers had a 2-1 lead at one point in the first period before allowing 3 unanswered goals.  The deciding factor in the game proved to be the play of Rick Nash, who the Flyers had so highly coveted in the off-season but could not acquire.
Nash scored 2 goals in the third period after recently returning from an unspecified injury, believed to be a concussion.  Both goals were nice but again exposed a weakness of Ilya Bryzgalov, his inability to poke check.  While the defense needs to make a better effort at helping out, Bryz just seemed to put little effort into trying to make the saves.  The Flyers saw Wayne Simmonds and Jakub Voracek continue to produce on a high level.  Each player scored a goal and added an assist in the game, giving both 10 goals on the season.  Simmonds and Voracek have been major bright spots in what has started out as a mediocre season for the Flyers thus far.  Unfortunately for the Flyers, their inability to acquire Nash in the off-season cost them this game as he had the final two goals.  From a fans perspective there were perhaps even more frustrating elements in this game however.
The continuous onslaught of Bud Light commercials featuring Pitbull continued again tonight, with a few breaks featuring the commercial twice.  I think I speak for all Flyers fans when I say, please only show the commercial a few times a game and certainly not every break.  Perhaps Anheuser Busch could do us all a favor and mix it up occasionally by playing that delightful Clydesdales commercial with "Landslide."  Everyone would much rather be serenaded by Stevie Nicks than continuously hearing the same Pitbull song.  Another issue with this game was the venue. People love to hype Madison Square Garden as one of the greatest arenas on Earth but the fact is, it is not a good venue for a hockey game.  Numerous times through the years there have been ice problems, and there always seems to be terrible cameras angles, which was a massive problem tonight.  The star of tonight's game was a rusty beam that got more screen time than any player did in the game.  The beam made constant appearances at the bottom of the screen and was immensely distracting.  So I plead with you, please cut back on the Pitbull commercials and speed up the improvements to Madison Square Garden.  The Flyers will be back in action Thursday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
