La Salle took one step closer to punching their ticket to the NCAA Tournament tonight in an 84-70 victory over a mediocre George Washington squad. The Explorers continued their impressive season and increased their record to 21-7 and 11-4 in Atlantic 10 play. La Salle maintained control of the game from early on and cruised to another victory. The Explorers could not afford a late season loss to a bad squad like the Colonials, or they would have put their tournament hopes in jeopardy. With the win however, the Explorers all but assured their trip to the NCAA Tournament heading into their final game of the regular season before the A-10 Tournament. La Salle's efforts on the night were led by great play from the guard position.
Senior guard Ramon Galloway led all scorers with 29 points on the game while also adding 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. The Explorers also received spectacular play from junior guard Tyreek Duren who scored 19 points while dishing out 7 assists. Jerrell Wright added 16 points and 7 rebounds for the Explorers in the contest, while Tyrone Garland added 12 points. The Explorers now head into their final game of the regular season against the Saint Louis Billikens. The #16 ranked Billikens should be a great benchmark for the Explorers to see where they stand heading into the tournament. The team appears to be peaking at the right time and could prove dangerous come tournament time with their deadly combination of guards. Don't be shocked if the Explorers make a deep run in the tournament this year, as they definitely have the skill to, when playing to their potential.
