Phillies Beat Orioles

Sporting their green uniforms for Saint Patrick's Day, the Phillies topped the Orioles 5-3 this afternoon.  The Phillies clearly did not have the luck of the Irish on their side to start the day, as Roy Halladay was lifted after one scoreless inning due to a stomach virus.  With Halladay's face greener than the Phillies uniforms today, Zach Miner took over on the mound.
Miner went two innings while allowing a single run on 4 hits.  Next to take the mound was Jeremy Horst who got the win on the day after pitching two innings of one-hit baseball, while striking out 2.  Phillippe Aumont took over for Horst and struggled mightily with his command.  In one inning of work, Aumont walked 2, however, he did not allow a single hit or run, as he struck out 2.  Jordan Whatcott and Colby Shreve each tossed a scoreless inning respectively, while Shreve struck out 1.  Possibly in the spirit of the holiday, but most likely not, the Phillies put in Ryan O'Sullivan to close out the game.  Despite his Irish name, O'Sullivan did not have the luck of the Irish on his side, as he allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in his one inning pitched.  It was a bit of an up and down afternoon for the Phillies pitching staff, but luckily the hitters put in some solid work on the day.
Ben Revere led off for the Phillies, and on the day went 1 for 3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.  Revere is now hitting .316 on the spring and may cause Charlie Manuel to finally consider moving Jimmy Rollins from the lead off spot.  Freddy Galvis got the start at shortstop, and had a 1 for 4 day that included a two-run home run.  Veteran third baseman Michael Young had a 2 for 3 outing at the plate that included a double.  Although it's Saint Patrick's Day, it may seem more like the movie Groundhog Day with the next hitter to be mentioned.  Continuing his strong spring, Dom Brown went 2 for 4 at the plate today and is now hitting .375 in Grapefruit League play. Brown also scored a run and collected an RBI on the day, as he continues to turn heads this spring and inch closer to that starting outfield spot.  At this point barring an injury, Brown has all but locked up one of the two open outfield positions, as he has hit the cover off the ball all spring, and looks as if he is finally ready to make a splash at the major league level.  The Phillies will be back in action tomorrow against the Atlanta Braves.  We wish everyone a happy and SAFE Saint Patrick's Day.  Erin Go Bragh!
