Temple easily took care of Fordham tonight and continued on their path toward an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Owls defeated the Rams by a final score of 74-55 to improve to 22-8 on the season and 10-5 in Atlantic 10 play. Temple who entered the game as one of Joe Lunardi's "Last Four In" for the NCAA Tournament could not afford to slip up against a bad Fordham team this late in the season, and left no doubt from the outset of who would win the contest. Temple is now on a 6 game winning streak and is rounding into great form for tournament time. Temple has one game remaining before the Atlantic 10 Tournament, against 21st ranked VCU. The outcome of that game should not effect whether the Owls receive an at-large bid, although a win could help their seeding. As has been the case in many of the teams games, Temple was led by Khalif Wyatt.
Wyatt, the senior guard, led the Owls with a double-double, scoring 19 points while also grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out 4 assists. Wyatt is just the type of leader this team will need heading into tournament play and could greatly assist them in making a run in the tourney. Temple also received a solid contribution from Scootie Randall who had 14 points to go along with 7 rebounds. Forward Anthony Lee added a double-double for the Owls with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Jake O'Brien added 10 points. The Owls appear to be rounding into form at the right time of the season and will enter the final game of the season facing a true test of where they stand against VCU. Temple has the tools to be a Cinderella team come tournament time so teams would be wise not to overlook them.
