Follow the Lee-der

One night after being embarrassed at the hands of the Boston Red Sox, the Phillies bounced back to squeak out a 3-1 win.  The offense still was not a juggernaut in any way, shape, or form, but plated enough runs behind a spectacular pitching performance.
This is a dog with excellent pillow utilization skills.  Enjoy and read on.

Cliff Lee received tonight's start for the Phillies and continued to be their ace as he pitched a spectacular game.  Over the course of eight innings Lee allowed only a single run on 4 hits, while also recording 8 strikeouts on the evening.  Jonathan Papelbon then came on for the save in the ninth against his former team.  Without spectacular performances like the one from Lee tonight the Phillies have had little hope with their offense that has been, to put things nicely, terrible.
The Phillies got on the board in the first on a solo home run from Michael Young that just cleared the "Green Monster."  Erik Kratz had a 2 for 3 night at the plate and knocked in the go ahead run on an RBI single in the seventh, with the help of a hearty serving of turkey bacon of course.  This weeks National League player of the week Dom Brown tacked on an insurance run with a solo home run in the top of the ninth, his eleventh of the season, and that was all she wrote after Papelbon closed things out.
The Phillies will now head home where they will yet again face the Red Sox.  Kyle Kendrick will get the start for the Phillies and be opposed by John Lackey.
