Phillies Win First Series

Finishing the game just in time, as massive thunderstorms settled in, the Phillies left the field with their first series win on the season after a 7-3 victory over the Mets.  The game went into a rain delay midway through, and strong winds were a factor throughout, blowing trash all over the field, and I don't just mean the Mets players.

Kyle Kendrick got his second start of the season, pitching six innings while allowing 8 hits and striking out 6 batters.  Kendrick returned after the rain delay and got out of a bit of a jam to turn in a solid start before handing things over to the bullpen.
Antonio Bastardo came on to pitch the seventh inning and tossed a scoreless frame while allowing 1 hit.  Next up was Mike Adams who pitched a single inning while allowing one run before handing things over to Jonathan Papelbon in the ninth to pick up the save.
The Phillies power was on full-display again tonight as they cracked three home runs off the Mets pitching staff.  Chase Utley and Laynce Nix each hit two-run home runs, while Dom Brown hit a towering three-run home run into the second deck.
Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard each had solid outings at the plate on the evening, as they each went 2 for 4 respectively.  Each scored 1 run while Rollins also hit a double on the night.
Michael Young picked up right where he left off last night, going 2 for 3 with a double, walk, and run scored.  One night after falling a double shy of the cycle, Young continues to impress at the plate recently, and has a .375 average early on the season.
The Phillies win tonight improved their record to 4-5 on the season as they head into an off day tomorrow.  They will be back in action Friday as they begin a series in Miami against the Marlins.
