Despite the loss, lets rejoice in how hot Dom Brown is right now. Read on!
Cole Hamels, clearly not used to pitching with a lead, got shelled, allowing 7 runs, 6 earned, in just five innings pitched. After Hamels was done getting roughed up, the bullpen slowed the bleeding, as Michael Stutes threw a scoreless sixth inning. Justin De Fratus then threw two scoreless innings before Mike Adams allowed one run while pitching the ninth. So while Hamels was atrocious, lets focus on some positives, for one Chad Durbin was released today, I'll hold while you do a celebratory dance. Ok, you good now? Another positive came in the fact that the offense topped 3 runs.
The offense looked prime to rack up the runs early as Dom Brown hit a three run home run in the bottom of the first. The lead would be short-lived, as the Brewers took the lead in the third inning and never looked back. Although they couldn't regain the lead, Dom Brown continued his one man show, as he hit his second home run of the game, and his twelfth of the month of May. Brown has been heating up rapidly, and now has 15 home runs on the season to lead the National League.
The Phillies will now look to regroup before tomorrows contest against the Brewers. Tyler Cloyd will get the start for the Phillies.
Thanks for pointing out the bright spots. @mikeyesh
