Phillies Top Brew Crew

    The Phillies were able to salvage the last game of the series against the Brewers this afternoon with a 7-5 win.  An early outburst from what has often been a stagnant offense this year allowed the Phillies to hold on for a victory in the end.

    Cliff Lee took the mound this afternoon as he looked to get the Phillies back on track and he did just that.  Lee coasted early and ended up pitching seven and two-thirds innings, allowing 3 runs and recording 11 strikeouts.  Things got much more interesting in the eighth inning.  Lee allowed his first run of the day and was removed with two outs and two men on.  Justin De Fratus came on and after loading the bases allowed what was originally ruled a grand slam.  Upon review the play was overturned and ruled a bases clearing triple, adding two more runs to Lee's line in the end.  After De Fratus got the final out of the eighth while allowing a run, Antonio Bastardo came on to pitch the ninth, allowing one run.
    The Phillies offense jumped on top of the Brewers early, as they batted around the order in the first, scoring 5 runs.  The Phillies got on the board courtesy of yet another Dom Brown home run, taking a 3-0 lead before an RBI double from Erik Kratz and RBI triple from Freddy Galvis extended the lead to 5-0.  The Phillies were right back at it in the second inning, as Ryan Howard hit a sacrifice fly that was followed by Dom Brown smacking an RBI triple to make it 7-0.  Brown continued to heat up, as he went 3 for 3 on the day with 4 RBI's, a walk and his sixteenth home run, falling only a double shy of the cycle.  Jimmy Rollins and Freddy Galvis each recorded two hits on the day as well, while playing great defense, as the Phillies held on for a 7-5 victory.
    The Phillies will now welcome that joke of a franchise the Marlins to town tomorrow.  Kyle Kendrick will receive the starting nod for the Phillies.
