The Phillies closed out today's series with the Miami High School Marlins, winning 6-1 to sweep the rotting fish right out of town. The Phillies are now on a four game win streak and sit with a .500 record for the first time since Wheels had his real hair.
Cole Hamels received today's start and in an odd turn of events actually picked up the win. Hamels tossed seven innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits, while recording 11 strikeouts. Justin De Fratus and Michael Stutes tossed a scoreless eighth and ninth inning and that was all she wrote for the Marlins.
The offense got off to yet another slow start, only scoring 1 run before the seventh inning, courtesy of an Erik Kratz double. In an effort to make Cole Hamels scared he would yet again fail to pick up his second win of the season, the team left the game tied until the bottom half of the seventh when they had an outburst, scoring 5 runs. Jimmy Rollins singled in a run, followed by Ryan Howard hitting a triple to score another 2 runs. Capping off the scoring was yet another Dom Brown home run, as he hit a two run shot for his eighteenth of the season to seal the victory for the Phillies.
So you're probably wondering, "Really Cole Hamels got a win and Ryan Howard tripled, what the hell?" I'll tell you what it is, a sign of the apocalypse, so run for cover folks it may be the end of time.
The Phillies now head to Milwaukee to face the Brewers for a four game set. Tyler Cloyd will get the start as the Phillies look to extend their win streak to five and move a game above .500.
