Phillies Top Nats, Take Series

The Phillies squeaked out a win tonight to top the Nationals and take the series three games to one. With the help of some shutdown pitching and just enough timely hitting, the Phillies pulled out the win 3 to 1.
The Phillies don't always win, but when they do... celebratory Dos Equis. Read onward!
Kyle Kendrick got the start for the Phillies and was lights out from the beginning, tossing seven innings of one run ball, while scattering five hits. Antonio Bastardo came on for the eighth and for once the Phillies bullpen didn't give everyone a heart attack as he threw one perfect inning before handing things over to Jonathan Papelbon for the save.
Keeping with their typical offensive trends, the Phillies didn't put up an overwhelming amount of hits nor did they score too many runs, but they managed just enough offense to win. The Phillies got on the board in the bottom of the fifth courtesy of a Ben Revere RBI single, as the center fielder continued to heat up. Revere went 2 for 4 on the night, raising his season average to .304 and also stole his 22nd base of the season. After the Nats tied things up in the sixth, Kevin Frandsen smacked a pinch-hit double to knock in the go ahead run in the seventh. Chase Utley would score on a fielders choice in the eighth and that was all she wrote as the Phillies won 3 to 1.
The Phillies will now welcome the Chicago White Sox to Citizens Bank Park tomorrow. Jonathan Pettibone will make the start.
