Eagles Training Camp Opens

Rookies and quarterbacks reported to the NovaCare Complex for the start of training camp today, marking the beginning of the first camp during the Chip Kelly Era. The Eagles won't be holding camp at Lehigh this year, opting instead to stay at home to train. The camp should have a few interesting battles and see some situations play out.

Who will be the quarterback come opening day? Will the veteran mobile-quarterback Mike Vick retain his spot as starter? Will youngster Nick Foles start a new era for the Eagles quarterbacks as a new coaching era begins? Or will the long shot, rookie Matt Barkley actually impress and somehow win the job? At this point Vick is the clear favorite due to experience alone, but that may not be enough to warrant Chip Kelly giving him the job. One thing is for sure, it will be nice to see what should hopefully amount to a fierce competition to be the signal caller for the Birds.
Will Chip Kelly adapt to life in the pros? It's almost certain Kelly will not be running the exact same offense that racked up the points in the Pac-10, but how much will he alter his spread offense? Mike Vick seems the best option if Kelly sticks more to his traditional route of coaching and less to adapting to the NFL style, but only time will tell. Will Kelly work out in the NFL, or are the Eagles simply setting themselves up for a rough few years?
Finally, can the team bounce back from an atrocious 4-12 season a year ago? Since Vince Young made his ridiculous "dream team" comment two seasons ago, the Eagles have been terrible to put it nicely. With the start of a new era, will the franchise begin to rebuild or will they be cellar dwellers in 2013-14? Hold on tight folks, football is back...kind of.
